A portrait of your own animal, made from a photograph you already have.
You send me two or three pictures. I paint the portrait digitally — a digital brush, not physical paint — and nothing goes to press until you have seen a proof and told me it is right. One round of changes is included.
Choosing the background
You don't have to name a color. Most people can't picture one on demand, so I stopped asking.
Tell me what colors are already in the room — the wall, the sofa, a rug, whatever you notice first — or just send me a photo of it. I'll come back with two or three versions of your own animal in different colors, and you tell me which one you like. If you would rather I simply chose, I will recommend one and tell you why.
Charcoal · Navy · Teal · Moss · Antique Gold · Signature · Rust
Or keep the place. If your photograph was taken somewhere that mattered — a beach, a trail, the lake, the back yard — I can keep the real background instead of painting one, because that is where it happened. I usually amplify the color a little past what the camera caught, brighter water and warmer light, since if it is going to be a painting it may as well have some life in it. If you would rather it stayed closer to the photograph, say so and I will hold it back.
None of it costs extra, whichever way you go.
Sizes
Gallery style, full bleed, no mat. The artwork runs edge to edge, so the size you choose is the size of the painting.
Print — 8 × 10, 11 × 14, 16 × 20, 18 × 24. Borderless, ships flat, drops straight into a standard off-the-shelf frame.
Framed — 8 × 10 arrives 9.25" × 11.25" on the wall · 11 × 14 arrives 12.25" × 15.25" · 16 × 20 arrives 17.25" × 21.25"
Every size holds the same composition, so the portrait you approve is the portrait you get, whichever one you choose.
Frames
Black gallery or walnut finish, both at the same price — pick the one your room wants rather than the one that costs least. Solid wood, made to order. Wider profiles are available on request and quoted individually.
What arrives
Every order:
· Printed on 100% cotton fine art paper, cold pressed and acid-free
· A digital proof before anything is printed, with one round of changes included
Framed also includes:
· Solid wood frame, made to order — not composite or MDF
· No mat and no glass, so nothing stands between you and the surface of the paper. That is the whole reason these read as paintings rather than prints.
· Hanging wire and a kraft paper dust cover fitted
· Ready to hang out of the box — no assembly, no trip to the frame shop
Print only:
· Ships flat, never rolled
· Borderless, so it fits a standard frame without trimming
10% of the purchase price of every portrait is donated to Senior Dogs and Friends Rescue, registered in Washington as RPR Senior Dogs and Friends, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Arlington, Washington. Ongoing through 26 September 2027, with no maximum. Purchases are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
